Appeal of the Armenian Nation for Peace and Stability of the World
Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin – April 2016
On April 3, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; offered the wish of the Armenian Republican for world security and stability.
In the Mother Cathedral, following the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the Catholicos of All Armenians, accompanied by the bishops of the church, ascended the main altar, and addressed the faithful. His Holiness spoke on the the hostilities that were unleashed by the armed forces of Azerbaijan on April 1st and 2nd.
“We all stand in prayer today, the troubled souls of every child in the nation, because as we learned, last night the youth of the nation were once again forced to defend the peace and security of our homeland’s borders and the free life of our people, with their lives.
… Defensive operations are also underway. Our soldiers have courageously, arisen to protect our borders.
We believe that our precious children of the people, with the nation of his soul in tumult and rebellion, will bring a new source of strength, spirit and courage worthy to strike the opponent, reaffirming our borders and restoring peace.
We are in the vibrant days of Easter, the resurrection of our lives enlightened by faith. In this spirit, we have overcome all trials of life, we strike at all battles of life throughout our history, and God will give victory to our people and the strength and grace to build their statehood and protect its free life. We believe that this same spirit of brotherhood and unity, faith, and the triumphant resurrection of our people will continue to build its peaceful life, enrich their country, to keep the country safe and borders secure, “said the Pontiff.
His Holiness encouraged the spirit of commitment to empower people on the borders, and for the youth performing their sacred duty, the courage to continue their sacred service of love for the homeland and the people’s devotion.
His Holiness also invited everyone to pray for peace and the power of the homeland, as well as for the children of the fallen and wounded.
In conclusion, His Holiness Karekin II asked that the Lord keep His Omnipotent Right Hand protecting the people of Armenia and Artsakh and the tranquil life of Armenians, with victory always leading the way.
Following the service and scripture readings, Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch read the prayer “Gohanamk thee”, asking God for strength, vibrancy and prosperity of the world and heavenly blessing for the entire Armenian nation.
Following the prayer, the Catholicos of All Armenians prayed for the repose of the souls of the heroes who died during the military operations.
