Annual Meeting of the Armenia Round Table Foundation

On October 20, the 2010-2011 annual meeting of the Armenia Round Table Charitable Foundation was held in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The Armenian Round Table Ecumenical Foundation (ART) was established by the World Council of Churches and by the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

For 15 years, the Armenia Round Table has been undertaking and pursuing initiatives to contribute to the development of benevolent, agricultural, environmental, educational, cultural and social projects. Recently, the Round Table has been involved in programs for the establishment of peace in the region, and in organization of direct aid in cases of emergency.

His Grace Bishop Markos Hovhannisian, Chairman of the Round Table Board of Trustees and Primate of the Diocese of Gegharkounik, opened the meeting with a prayer and gave opening remarks. His Grace greeted the participants and expressed his wish for the success and progress of the meeting. Dr. Karen Nazarian, Executive Director of ART, offered his greeting to the attendees. He stressed with joy that the success of the long-term work is evident, and that the network of the partners has been expanded. The Dr. Nazarian presented an operational overview, and highlighted the quick response of Ecumenical Organizations to aid the rescue work in the Tavush region after a recent landslide. “Perhaps, we are the only International organization which first responded to the accident and provided spiritual and charitable support”.

Present for the meeting was Mr. Vasken Manukian, President of the Public Council of Armenia; he introduced the activities, aim and completed projects of the council.

Dr. Nazarian and the Project Leaders presented the annual report on activities for 2010-2011. There were also discussions on the future programs and activities for ART.
