M. Nassr/ H. Sabbagh – 2/7/13
Damascus, (SANA) – Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halqi affirmed that the foreign political tumult regarding the crisis in Syria indicates desire to find suitable solutions, and that conspirators are trying to undermine Syrian economy after failing on the military and political levels.
During a meeting on Monday with Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Patriarch John X Yazigi, al-Halqi underlined the important role of Muslim and Christian religious figures in preserving the unity and solidarity of Syrians by spreading their messages of love, tolerance and coexistence to combat extremist takfiri movements.
He lauded the role of religious and spiritual leaderships in Syria in confronting the invasive and alien extremist concepts and in defending coexistence, adding that the current circumstances prompt people to reconsider and correct educational and economic policies.
The Prime Minister pointed out the economic, media, political and social warfare waged against Syria, reviewing the government’s efforts to provide citizens’ needs despite the losses in infrastructure it suffered.
For his part, Patriarch Yazigi said that Syria is a strong and steadfast country, and that Syrians are giving others lessons in solidarity and determination to preserve their country.
He affirmed that takfiri terrorist movements will not find a foothold in Syria, asserting that implementing the political program to resolve the crisis is the only way to restore peace and security.
Hassoun: Syria victorious over those who want to fragment it
Syria’s Grand Mufti Ahmad Badr Eddin Hassoun said that Syria is victorious over the sides which wanted to fragment the country.
During his meeting with Patriarch Yazigi, Hassoun said that the reason behind the fierce attack against the country is its diversity, adding that these meetings among the Syrian spectrum are the best way to respond to such campaigns.
Al-Sayyed: Takfiri calls do not represent Islam
Minister of Awqaf (Religious Endowments), Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed, stressed that the takfiri calls do not represent the correct Islamic mentality and are issued to serve political agendas.
During his meeting with Patriarch Yazigi, Minister al-Sayyed highlighted that the takfiri calls will not dissuade the Syrians from facing the takfiri campaigns that aim at spreading sedition among the people.
For his part, Patriarch Yazigi said that the Syrians deliver a clear message through their co-existence in their country, adding that the awareness of the Syrian people will repel all attempts of conspirators to undermine the country.
