U.S. Congressmen condemned Armenian pogroms in Azerbaijan

PanARMENIAN.Net – A congressional event on commemoration of massacres of Armenians in Sumgait (1988) and Baku (1990), Azerbaijan, organized by the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues, in cooperation with the embassy of Armenia to Washington, Office of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, Armenian Assembly of America, and Armenian National Committee of America was held in Cannon House Office on February 28, 2011.

Congressmen, representatives of the Armenian community and Armenian Apostolic Church as well as Arstakh Republic Foreign Minister Georgy Petrosian condemned Azerbaijan’s atrocities.

Armenia’s ambassador to the U.S. Tatul Margaryan emphasized that the continuous congressional efforts can help prevent crimes against humanity in the future.
Earlier, Rep. Frank Pallone and Anna Ashoo condemned the Sumgait pogroms. Besides, a documentary was screened, RA MFA press office reported.
