Primate of the UOC celebrated memorial litia for the victims of Holodomor (Ukrainian Famine) of 1932-1933

On Saturday, November 27, in Ukraine the memory of the victims of Holodomor (Ukrainian Famine) is honored. On that day, in the territory of the State Museum “Memorial of the victims of Holodomor in Ukraine” (Kyiv, Mazepy str. 15-а) the mourning ceremonies   were held.  

First the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, together with the President and Prime-Minister of Ukraine place the flower compositions with candles at the sculpture “Bitter memory of childhood”.  

Then, after a minute of mourning, His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr celebrated the memorial prayer service of Litia for the compatriots – the innocent victims.  

Concelebrating to His Beatitude were Bishop Iriney of Nizhyn and Pryluky, Bishop Seraphim of Yahotyn, and the Kyivan clergy.      

Attending the memorial ceremony also were the state officials, parliament members and public leaders. 

At the memorial prayer service the chants were performed by the choir of the Kyiv Theological Academy and seminary guided by hegumen Roman Pidlubnyak.
