Polish Orthodox Church closer to the Right Law order of its Properties
First reading of the government’s draft bill on regulating law status of some properties of Polish Orthodox Church took place in Polish Lower Chamber of Parliament (Sejm). The aim of the draft bill is to cease the temporary status of some Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church properties. After the decree from 1947 they were owned by the state, and now they are the property of Polish Orthodox Church.
According to the bill twenty one of the premises which are now owned by Polish Orthodox Church, from now on will be owned by the Church by force of law. Deputy Jarosław Matwiejuk appealed to pass the draft bill as soon as possible. All groupings declared for supporting it, because it is a result of an agreement between Polish Orthodox Church and Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Moreover, Polish Orthodox Church will withdraw its complaint from European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
