Macedonian bishop arrested at Kalotina border Checkpoint

Sofia. Macedonian bishop Jovan Vraniskovski, head of the autonomous Orthodox Ohrid Archbishopric, has been detained at the Kalotina border checkpoint at the Bulgarian-Serbian border on Wednesday night. Vraniskovski is declared for international search by Interpol over an effective sentence passed by the Macedonian court.
The Interior Ministry confirmed the information for FOCUS News Agency.
Vraniskovski has been put under 24-hour arrest.
The case will be referred to the Supreme Prosecution Office of Cassations.

FOCUS News Agency recalls:
Jovan Vraniskovski, former bishop of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, officially presents himself as exarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Macedonia through the so-called Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid archbishopric.
Vraniskovski has been imposed by the Court in Vesel a sentence of two years and six months imprisonment over church money misappropriation.
