ROCOR opens new parish in Dominican Republic
2/11/2010
A new, second parish of the Russian Orthodox Church outside Russia (ROCOR), has opened in Bavaro in the Dominican Republic.
It was named after St. Serafim of Sarov, the Moscow Patriarchate said in a statement on Tuesday.
The parish is part of ROCOR’s East America and New York Diocese. In 2007, ROCOR signed an act on canonical communication with the Council of Bishops of the Moscow Patriarchate.
This move ended decades of separation and restored the church unity broken after the October 1917 Bolshevik coup in Russia.
