K. Albanian Media on Patriarch’s Enthronement
4/9/2010
PRIŠTINA — The Albanian language media in Priština today write about Sunday’s Kosovo enthronement of Serbian Orthodox Patriarch Irinej.
They say that the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) “has not renounced its nationalistic position toward Kosovo”.
Daily Zeri refers to the Holy Liturgy held yesterday at the Patriarchate of Peć as a “political liturgy”.
Koha Ditire writes that the patriarch’s calls to have faith in God and mankind, tolerance and understanding, “did not help him avoid Serb nationalistic messages about Kosovo”.
“The new SPC patriarch sent a plea to the great powers instead of prayers to God for Kosovo. During the inauguration he relayed nationalistic messages. The Serbian president went back without saying a single word,” according to another Albanian language newspaper, Express.
Daily Kosova Sot agrees and writes today that the Serb patriarch “forgot faith and engaged in politics”.
Other media in Priština published articles similar in tone.
