The 200th Anniversary of the Orthodox Church in Mielnik (Poland) Held

Warsaw-Poland: The 200th Anniversary of the Polish Orthodox Church in Mielnik (Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God) was held on the 21st of September 2021. Bishop Warsonofiusz of Siemiatycze presided over the ceremony during the celebration. A sermon was delivered by Fr. Eugeniusz Chodakowski.
Earlier a conference was held on the 18th of September in Mielnik. Lectures were delivered by Dr Grzegorz Śnieżko, Prof. Antoni Mironowicz, Doroteusz Fionik, Fr. Dr Piotr Fiedoruk. The conference bought together several residents interested in the history of their town. During the conference, A “Testimony” from 1828 was presented, confirming the great help in the construction of the present Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God by Jan Wierzba the then mayor of Mielnik. Jan Wierzba’s descendants still live in Mielnik. A commemorative “Gratiitude” in the memory of Jan Wierzba was handed over to Helena Szczygoł, his great-great-granddaughter,
