Kyiv-Ukraine: The National Conference (Congress) on Monasticism of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was held at the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra. The conference began on the 15th of July 2021.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Congress- Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshhorod and Chornobyl, Deputy Governor of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Chairman of the Synodal Commission for Monasteries of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church; Deputy Chairman of the Congress – Metropolitan Volodymyr Pochaivsky, Governor of the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra; Secretary of the Congress – Metropolitan Arseniy of Svyatogorsk, Governor of the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra.

A presentation on the topic “the role and significance of monasticism in the salvation of the human soul” was made by Metropolitan Volodymyr Pochaiv, which was followed by a talk on “Monasticism in the modern world.” Abbess Stefan (Bandura), a talk on “Gadgets in the monastery: the use of mobile phones, social networks, the Internet in the monastery – the benefits and dangers”. A present there are 258 monasteries and 56 hermitages functioning under the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, served by 5,000 monks and nuns.
