Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God in Holy Etchmiadzin
On August 15 the Armenian Church celebrated the feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God. Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin by His Grace Bishop Ararat Kaltakjian. During the Liturgy, Bishop Ararat reflected on the mystery of the feast and the nature of the Holy Mother of God.
Following the Divine Liturgy, an ecclesiastical procession moved from the Mother Cathedral to the Saint Trdat Open Air Altar, where the celebrant, Archbishop Voskan Kalpakian, Primate and Pontifical Legate to the Armenians in Greece; conducted the Service for the Blessing of the Grapes. After the reading of the prayer of St. Nerses the Gracious and the singing of hymns, His Grace blessed the grapes and the harvest for the coming year.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, deacons distributed blessed grapes to the faithful.
