Turkey Demolishes Bursa Greek Orthodox Church

Constantinople-Turkey: The St. Georgios Greek Orthodox Church, also known as the “Hagia Sophia of Bursa,” was demolished in the first week of September 2020 by the Turkish Islamic Foundation. Constructed in 1896, it was utilized as a Church and Mosque in the past. It was converted into a full Mosque after the population exchange between Greece and Turkey.

However, the Church building was later abandoned, as another mosque was constructed for Islamic worship. This historic building has been neglected for over 7 years. The Church of St. George is located in the Nilüfer district of Bursa Province in Turkey.
The Chora Orthodox Church in Turkey Converted to Mosque
In recent months, Hagia Sophia, and Kariye Chora Orthodox Churches were converted into Mosques under the radical Islamic leadership of Turkish President Erdogan.
