Domestic Violence has Left 500 Children in Serbia Without their Mothers – Appeal from 28.Jun NGO

We have been helping vulnerable members of our community for almost a decade. However, there is one group that does not receive the attention they deserve.

These are victims of domestic violence.

These are our mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends. These are women, 330 of whom were killed as a result of domestic abuse in the last 10 years in Serbia. And these are only the reported cases.

Following the state of emergency declaration, the Safe House for women in Sombor started the production of sewing protective masks for essential workers. When the state of emergency is lifted, victims of violence will set up a social enterprise and continue sewing linen to provide for their families and will allocate part of the funds to support other victims of domestic violence.

The Safe House is in desperate need of food packages for women both inside and outside of the shelter, along with sewing materials and equipment needed to continue to operate. We must come together and show them that they are not alone; how we react in this moment will define us.
