His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr Makes Archpastoral Visit to Diocese of Berdyansk

On the invitation of His Grace Yelisey, Bishop of Prymorsk and Berdyansk, on July 1, His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine, on July 1 His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine came with archpastoral visit to the region of Berdyansk. He was accompanied by Vicar of the Kyiv Metropolis Bishop Alexander of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy (Secretary for the UOC Primate).

At the airport the Archpastor was met by Metropolitan Hilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol, Bishop Metrophanes of Horlivka and Slovyansk, Bishop Yelisey of Berdyansk and Prymorsk and the regional clergy.

On the first day of his visit His Beatitude called to the cathedral dedicated to the Nativity of Theotokos, where in concelebration of the hierarchs and clergy he performed a thanksgiving prayer service.

Praying at the service were Boris Petrov, the governor of Zaporizhia region, Yevheniy Shapovalov, the mayor of Berdyansk, representatives of local self-government bodies, Cossacks and numerous believers from different corners of the Diocese of Berdyansk.

His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr blessed clergymen and faithful and addressed the worshippers with a word of greeting and exhortation.

In response His Grace Yelisey, on behalf of the clergymen and faithful thanked the primate of the UOC for his constant archpastoral care of the lands of Berdyansk and offered him a panagia as a present.

Finally, His Beatitude answered the questions by the regional and city media and blessed the residents of the city.
