APPEAL TO PRAYER AND CHRISTIAN SOLIDARITY WITH THOSE AFFECTED BY THE FLOODS IN THE NORTHEAST OF THE COUNTRY
THE PRESS OFFICE OF THE ROMANIAN PATRIARCHATE informs us:
These days, when many of our fellow beings in the Northeast of the country are tried hard by the merciless overflowing of the waters, the Romanian Patriarchate urges the clergy and faithful from parishes and monasteries to say prayers for stopping the waters at the Divine Liturgy and other holy services, according to the urges of the Liturghier (a collection of prayers for various needs in the human life).
At the same time, the Romanian Patriarchate urges the hierarchs, priests and the Orthodox faithful from parishes and monasteries, as sign of compassion and solidarity with those affected by the floods in the Northeast of Moldova that caused the loss of human lives and great material damage, to organise fund raising, as well as donations of non-perishable aliments and other material goods (as well as construction materials) in order to help the families affected by floods.
We kindly ask that the funds raised to be laid in the following accounts of the Romanian Patriarchate for the victims of the floods:
RO54RNCB0075004895030091(Lei),
RO27RNCB0075004895030092(Euro),
RO97RNCB0075004895030093(USD)
mentioning “for the victims of the floods”, opened at the Romanian Commercial Bank, branch of district 4, Bucharest.
The financial aids on behalf of the Orthodox clergy and faithful will be distributed by the Social Philanthropic Department of the Romanian Patriarchate to the families affected by floods after the eparchies in the respective areas have presented the present state of things. The aids in non-perishable aliments and other material goods will be send directly to the areas affected, through the Social-Philanthropic Departments of the Eparchies, in the Northeast of the country, under the co-ordination of the Department of Social Assistance of the Metropolitan See of Moldova and Bucovina.
The prayer united with the good deed for helping the families affected by floods is a proof of responsibility and social cohesion which strengthens the faith and hope that the troubles and needs the majority of the Romanians are faced with during this period will be overcome, according to the words of Jesus Christ, our Lord: “When you pray and ask for something, believe that you have received it, and you will be given whatever you ask for”. (Mark 11:24).
