The visit of Patriarch Theophilos III in Lublin

After the celebrations in Jabłeczna Patriarch Theophilos III with the Metropolitan Sawa visited in the afternoon the cathedral of the Transfiguration in Lublin.
In the meeting with the Patriarch participated many worhippers. Also a guest was Józef Życiński, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Lublin. Hiorarchs welcomed the youngest parishioners – the children, governors and the parishes of Lublin prof. Alexander Kowalski with phd. Grzegorz Kuprianowicz.
Distinguished visitors were invited to the church by fr. Andrzej Łoś, parson of the cathedral parish . After a short prayer, Archbishop Abel talked about the historical links of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem with the Metropoliatan of Kiev, and thus the life of the Orthodox Diocese of Chełm and Lublin cathedral church. As a memento of stay in the Lublin cathedral, the Archbishop gave the Patriarch the icon of Our Lady from Chełm. Patriarch Theophilos said that by his visit to Poland he brings peace of the eternal city of Jerusalem and of Bethlehem, where the Incarnation took place. He talked also to the present Archbishop Józef Życiński, stressing how important is the ecumenical dialogue run by the Christian Churches . After the visit, the entire delegation traveled to Lublin Majdanek concentration camp to serve a mourning prayer for those who died in this place.
