
OCP Delegation Visits Mar Aphrem-Metropolitan of the Chaldean Syrian Church

Malankara-India: OCP Delegation paid a visit to the His Grace Dr. Mar Aprem Mooken (Metropolitan of the Chaldean Syrian Church of the East) on 8/7/19 at the Metropolitans Palace in Thrissur, Kerala.
The OCP delegation consisted of George Alexander (Secretary) Donn George (First Editor- Malankara Affairs) Linto Paul and (Second Editor- Malankara Affairs).
Mar Aphrem gave the delegation a warm and cordial welcome. The Prelate took a genuine interest to understand the details of the various OCP research projects. The discussion covered areas of mutual interest such as the historic Chaldean-Malankara-Western Rite relations, and the upcoming Papist Nasrani Sangamom. They also discussed the recent book ‘As Far As East is From the West’ published by Patriarch Abba Seraphim in response to the OCP-MARP book ‘Western Rites of Syriac-Malankara Churches’.
He also took time to take the delegation to his private archives and showed some of the oldest preserved manuscripts and books. The Metropolitan owns a large collection of the rare Syriac Manuscripts.

Mar Aphrem also recollected the fond memories of the previous visit of OCP delegation (in 2014). Metropolitan presented the delegates a signed copy of his new book, “Russia To England Via UAE “.
About Mar Aphrem
Mar Aprem is head and of The Church of East in India since 1968. He has 76 books to his credit (mostly in English and a few in Malayalam such as biographies, Church history, travelogues, etc). His book ‘ Bishops Jokes ‘ and ‘Laugh with the Bishop’ have attracted worldwide attention. His books have been translated into Russian, Assyrian, Malayalam, Arabic languages. He is also a writer of the devotional songs (broadcast in All India Radio). His song ” Behold the Cross of Calvary” was published in 50 Indian and 50 foreign languages. An outstanding scholar of Church history and Christology, he was decorated with the ‘Medel of the Merit’ of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center, Venice for his cultural and ecumenical initiatives.
