Russian media spreads information on participation of Bishop Alexander of Baku and Caspian region in groundbreaking ceremony of the church in the occupied territory of Azerbaijan – UPDATED

Bishop refutes it himself

Baku – APA. A groundbreaking ceremony was held for Russian Orthodox Church which would be built in honor of Saint Mary in the occupied territory of Azerbaijan, APA reports quoting Interfax – Religia agency.

Bishop Alexander of Baku and Caspian region also attended the ceremony held on June 18 in Khankendi. He put the cross on the place of construction for obedience. After the ceremony he thanked Nagorno Karabakh regime for making decision connected with the construction of a church for Russian community.

Leader of the separatist regime Baki Saakyan and Russian delegation took part in the ceremony as well.

The church will be built by means of charity. Saakyan said that some rich persons had already been ready to help.

But Bishop Alexander refuted all information about his visit to Khankendi and participation in the groundbreaking ceremony. “I am in Mahacgala now. I have never been to Nagorno Karabakh and attend any groundbreaking ceremony”, he said.

He said nobody from the Baku and Caspian Bishopric attended that event.

Bishop Alexander also added that he would demand refutation from the media which had spread this information.
