Patron Saint-day of Serbian Patriarchate Chapel of Saint Simeon of Myrrh-Gusher
Church of Serbia – 27/2/19
The Patron Saint-day of the chapel of Saint Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher in the Serbian Patriarchate, Belgrade, was celebrated on 26 February 2019 with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy officiated by His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej in the prayerful presence of Their Graces Bishops Lavrentije of Sabac and Metodije of Dioclea.
The choir of the First Belgrade Choral Assemble sang responses. The service was attended by Dr. Mileta Radojevic, Director of the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities.
The chapel of Saint Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher, the Patriarchate chapel in Belgrade, solemnly celebrated this year its 83rd patron saint since its consecration in 1936, at that time the newly built headquarters of the Serbian Patriarchate, on the location of the former Metropolitanate of Belgrade, according to the project of Russian architect Victor Lukomski.
The chapel has always been under direct supervision and control of the Serbian Patriarch, and the care of the chapel and treasury has been entrusted to the most responsible persons of a clerical rank. The late Patriarch German appointed Revd. deacon Stevan Rapajic, an official of the Archdiocese of Belgrade-Karlovci, as its principal in 1979, and consequently he has spent 40 years performing this position.
