Primates of Constantinople and the Russian Orthodox Church took part in the opening ceremony and Parade on the Day of Slavonic Written Language and Culture on Vasilevsky descent

May 24, the day of commemoration of Saints Cyril and Methodius, the parade started at end of the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior .

The rally, proceeded along the embankment of the Moskva River past the Kremlin to Vasilevsky descent, led by Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople and the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Kirill, as well as the Mayor of Moscow YM Luzhkov.

Patriarchs of Constantinople and the Russian Orthodox Church, concelebrated at the Church of Christ the Savior, in the presence of the clergy Moscow region, believers, the representatives of the Orthodox student, youth and community organizations.

The procession carried the flags of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and other Slavic states, banners and flags Orthodox of organizations.

According to preliminary estimates on Vasilevsky descent, where the walls of the Cathedral of the Intercession on the Ditch (St. Basil) held the opening ceremony of the Days of Slavic Written Language and Culture, there were about 40 thousand people. The ceremony was attended by His Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew and His Holiness Patriarch Cyril.
