Orthodox Church in Azerbaijan to mark first time Day of Slavic Script

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Today a round table devoted to cultural and spiritual heritage of creators of Slavic script, the brothers Cyril and Methodius, has been held in Baku today with participation of ambassadors of Slavic countries and representatives of religious confessions in Azerbaijan.
Today bishop of Baku and Caspian littoral bishop Alexander (Alexnader Ishein) has said today that Orthodox Church marks the Day of Slavic Script for the first time in Azerbaijan.
“This holiday is marked in each bishopric and we try to celebrate it in Azerbaijan as well. A conference devoted to this day will be arranged in the Baku Slavic University on 15 May,” the bishop said.
The Russian ambassador Vladimir Dorokhin to Azerbaijan says that there are wide opportunities to mark this day in Azerbaijan.
“Your country has high level of tolerance and culture. That is why I think that we should conduct holiday events at due level in Azerbaijan,” the ambassador said.
