Church blesses Conference of Russian expats in China

Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations has welcomed the opening of the Conference of Russian compatriots in the Chinese city of Harbin. In his address to the participants he said that Russian compatriots in China should revive their cultural and historical heritage, and preserve the Russian language. He stressed that the Russian Orthodox Church unites all Orthodox believers not only in Russia but also in other countries. The main theme of the conference in Harbin is to preserve the Russian historical heritage.
Held on the even of the 65th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism the forum includes a number of memorial events in particular the laying of flowers at the monument of Soviet soldiers who liberated the North East of China from Japanese invaders.
