Symposium to be held on Ecumenical Patriarchate’s Religious Freedom Crisis

The Order of Saint Andrew

The Order of Saint Andrew’s Greater Delaware Valley region will be hosting a symposium entitled, “The Great Schism and the Current Dialogue of Love and Truth” at St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church in Broomall, PA on May 8, 2010.

Dr. George E. Demacopoulos, Associate Professor of Historical Theology and Co-Founding Director of the Orthodox Christian Studies Program at Fordham University, will be the main speaker and will offer insight on the historical and theological origins of the schism as well as a survey of some recent scholarly reappraisals of the East/West divide. Dr. Demacopoulos will also detail the recent developments in the Orthodox/Catholic dialogue.

An afternoon session will feature the National Commander Anthony J. Limberakis, MD who will offer a presentation highlighting the history of the religious freedom persecutions of the Ecumenical Patriarchate with recent news and developments pursued by Archons with leaders in Washington, Madrid, Venice, Athens, Brussels, and Strasbourg. The Symposium will conclude with remarks of His Eminence Metropolitan Evangelos of New Jersey.

The symposium is open to all Archons, their spouses, and other faithful Orthodox members interested in the religious freedom pursuit for the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
