Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II Visits Lebanese President General Michel Aoun

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited His Excellency President General Michel Aoun, the newly elected President of the Republic of Lebanon, at the Presidential Palace.
His Holiness headed a delegation of Archbishops including their Eminences: Mor Theophilus George Saliba, Archbishop of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli, Mor Clemis Daniel Kourieh, Metropolitan of Beirut, Mor Chrysostomos Mikhael Shemoun, Patriarchal Vicar for the Patriarchal Benevolent Institutions in Atchaneh, Mor Timotheos Matthew, Patriarchal Secretary for Indian Affairs and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.
His Holiness congratulated His Excellency for his election and hoped for a quick appointment of the new government. He discussed the current situation in Lebanon and the countries of the Middle East, as well as the situation of Christians in these countries.
His Excellency thanked His Holiness for his visit and promised to work his best to defend the rights of all Lebanese people.
His Holiness asked His Excellency’s help in the issue of the abduction of the two Archbishops of Aleppo Boulos Yaziji and Mor Gregorius Youhanna Ibrahim.
