Catholicos of All Armenians Recieves Governor of Orlov

Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin – May 2016

On May 29, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Vadim Potomski, Governor of Orlov; and Archmindrate Iliy Nozdrin, monk of the Russian Orthodox Church. They were accompanied by Mr. Samvel Movsisyan, benefactor of the New Nakhichevan and Russian Diocese.

His Holiness expressed joy for hosting the delegation from Russia during these festive days.  His Holiness noted with satisfaction that such visits contribute to the strengthening of the close and friendly collaborative relations. The Catholicos of All Armenians also confirmed that due to the caring attitude of the Russian authorities towards the Armenian Diaspora, the Armenians are able to freely live their national – spiritual life.

During the meeting, His Holiness reflected on the friendly relations between the two Churches and the cooperation in the field of education.

Archmindrate Iliy expressed his happiness on the occasion of his visit to Armenia, noting that he really wished to come to Armenia and learn of her spiritual values and heritage, through which the Christian faith remains alive. He also spoke about the importance of spiritual life and the present day attacks on Christianity.

Governor Potomski expressed his gratitude for the meeting, mentioning the close relations and cooperation with the Armenian community.

At the conclusion, His Holiness offered his prayers and wish that the friendly ties between the two brotherly people constantly strengthen and the existing cooperation between them be crowned with new accomplishments.

The meeting was attended His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Relations and Protocol Department and the AGBU President Mr. Berge Setrakian.
