230 years since the establishment of the orthodox theological education in the Transylvanian City

Academic, cultural and spiritual events began at “Saint Andrei Saguna” Faculty of Theology in Sibiu dedicated to the anniversary of 230 years since the establishment of the Orthodox theological education in Sibiu. The manifestations were opened in “Metropolitan Ioan Meţianu” rotunda of the Faculty of Theology, where His Grace Varlaam Ploieşteanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch, read the congratulatory and blessing message of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
The anniversary event organised in Sibiu began Monday, 16 Monday 2016, at 8.30 hours, with the Divine Liturgy celebrated in the Metropolitan Cathedral by His Grace Visarion, Bishop of Tulcea, together with a group of priests and deacons, members of the teaching staff of the Faculty of Theology. His Eminence Laurenţiu, Metropolitan of Transylvania, His Eminence Calinic, Archbishop of Argeş and Muscel, His Grace Andrei, Bishop of Covasna and Harghita, His Grace Daniil, Bishop locum tenens of the Diocese of Dacia Felix, and His Grace Varlaam Ploieşteanul participated in the Divine Liturgy.
The book entitled “230 years of Orthodox Theological Education in Sibiu” by Rev. Academician Mircea Păcurariu re-edited at “Andreiana” publishing house was also launched. In the end, the photographic and documentary album entitled “Vocation and Continuation. Orthodox Theological Education in Sibiu, 230 years of history “in images and icons” was also presented.
