Erbil- Iraq: His Holiness Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II met with His Holiness the Assyrian Patriarch Mar Gewargis III and a delegation of Metropolitans from the Assyrian Church of the East. This meeting is the first one after the enthronement of Mar Gewargis III.
His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II was accompanied by a delegation of Archbishops: Mor Gregorius Saliba Shemoun, Patriarchal Counselor, Mor Theophilos George Saliba, Archbishop of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli, Mor Timotheos Moussa Al-Shamani, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Mar Matta Monastery, Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Archbishop of Mosul and Environs, as well as Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director.
The two patriarchs and the delegations discussed the important issues related to the current situation of Christians in Iraq and the Middle East. They also discussed ways to further strengthen the relationship between the two churches.
