The Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.) organizes the second in a row photo contest and invites all interested parties to participate in this.
The contest is dedicated to buildings monuments of Eastern Christian tradition, whose importance is too great and are part of the cultural heritage of all peoples of the earth. The Ι.Α.Ο. chose this particular time period, where humanity once again witnesses the destruction of cultural monuments by fanatical religious groups.
Organizers
The new photo contest organized on a proposal from the Committee on Culture of the Secretariat of the I.A.O. in celebration of the year 2016 as the year of people’s friendship of Greece and Russia, in collaboration with the online community www.orthphoto.net.
Prizes
The contest has three areas.
Each area has three awards:
Grand Prize (Grand Prix) – € 1500
2nd prize € 1000
3th prize € 500
The winners will be awarded during the annual General Assembly of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy in June 2016. All prizes are sponsored by the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O.).

The Evaluation Committee
The Evaluation Committee of this contest is International and consists of 10 people and the two advisors of the I.A.O.
1. Miltiadis D. Polyviou (head)
Graduate architect of the Polytechnic School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1972) Postgraduate Diploma of Byzantine Archaeology industry Faculty of Philosophy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a PhD of the Faculty of architecture of the National Technical University of Athens (1993).
2. Mr. Aleksander Wasyluk
An editor and one of the founders of www.orthphoto.net. An editor of a Polish website about and for orthodox believers www.cerkiew.pl. Currently working for a photo educational project, www.szerokikadr.pl, with Nikon Poland. Thanks to SYNDESMOS visited and explored many places connected with Orthodox religion and hopes to do much more in the future.
3. Boris Sysoev
Professional photographer and journalist. As a photo‑journalist traveled throughout the Soviet Union. He worked at the State Tretyakov Gallery, in the newspaper “Tribune”, “Alphabet” as well as in the media‑group “Freedom of speech”.
As a photographer he worked for five years for the Easter Festival of Valery Gergiev. For many years he took pictures of religious Orthodox ceremonies, portraits of clergy, parishioners at the Trinity‑Sergius Lavra and Mount Athos.
4. Mr. Wato Tsereteli
He is responsible for the Center of Contemporary Art in Tbilisi. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp and now he lives in Tbilisi, Georgia.
5. Ms.Gali Tibon
Gali Tibbon is a multi-award-winning photographer based in Jerusalem. In 2013 she was named Travel Photographer of the Year at the World Photography Awards (WPO) among many others. Gali is a Canon Explorer, part of Canon Europe Ambassador’s program. Her work explores the theme of religion, focusing on faith, capturing the spiritual and abstract emotions of the faithful into her stills images.
6. Mr. Abraham Tharakan
He started working as professional photographer in the year 1983. Abraham Tharakan has his own company and he leads a group of professional photographers. He lives in Kochi, India.
7. Mr. Bojan Miljkovic
He works as a research employee, research assistant and scientific assistant at the institute Byzantine Studies of Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences Belgrade, Serbia. He studied Doctor of Arts Ph. D. in History of Art at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Philosophy.
8. Mr. Florin Marinesku
Florin Marinescu is a historian and researcher at the Institute for Neohellenic Research of the National Research Foundation. He studied in Bucharest, the Faculty of the University there, where claimed and his doctoral thesis. Until 1978 he worked at the Department of Manuscripts and rare books in the library of the Romanian Academy, where he specialized in Romanian Cyrillic Palaeography.
9. Mr. Samvel Karapetyan
Samvel Karapetian, is an Armenian historian and he is a researcher on monuments in Armenia, Artsakh Republic and in other regions of the South Caucasus.
10. Mr. Todorov Todor Enchev
He is an expert in Cultural History, History of Art and History of Religion. He studied at the Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, Faculty of Theology, Department of Theology, and he has a Master’s degree.
11. Mr. Konstantinos Mygdalis
Dr of Theology, Architect, Advisor of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy. Member of the Organisational Committee of Pan‑European Congress „Orthodoxy in the New European Reality” (1993) organised by the Greek Parliament. Founding member of the Centre for Ecumenical Studies and Inter‑Orthodox Information seated in Thessaloniki
12. Mr. Valery Alexeev
Ph.D. in Philosophy, Advisor to the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy, specialist on religions, one of the outstanding specialists around the world on research for the church‑state relations in Russia in the XXth century. Advisor to the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, 1994–2004. Founder (1995) and President of the International Foundation of the Union of the Orthodox nations, the Trustee Council (of which is under the auspices of the Holy Patriarch of Moscow and all Russians, Alexiy II, starting from the founding date)
