METROPOLITAN HILARION OF VOLOKOLAMSK MEETS WITH MR. DAMIR MUKHETDINOV – DEPUTY CHAIRMAN OF MUSLIM SPIRITUAL BOARD OF RUSSIA
On 29 April 2015, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, met with Mr. Damir Mukhetdinov, deputy chairman of the Central Muslim Spiritual Board of Russia. The meeting took place at the Department for External Church Relations.
Taking part in it were also other representatives of the Central Muslim Spiritual Board of Russia and a staff member of the DECR Sector of Interreligious Contacts, Mr. Ilya Kashitsyn.
Metropolitan Hilarion warmly greeted the guest. The participants in the meeting shared their impressions of the Conference on Civilization Choice of the Peoples of Russia, which had taken place in Kazan on 28 March 2015, as a part of celebrations marking the millennium of the demise of the Holy Prince Vladimir, Equal-to-the-Apostles.
Among other issues raised at the meeting were the spread of extremism in the Middle East, difficult situation of Christians in the region, and interreligious relations in Russia and other countries.
