Bulgaria’s PM and President Attend Commemorative Ceremony

Today, Bulgaria’s PM, Boyko Borissov, and President Georgi Parvanov will attend a ceremony in honour of the death of the Apostle of Freedom 137 years ago. The ceremony will begin at 18:00 at Vassil Levski monument in Sofia downtown. At the same time a torch procession, leaded by the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMRO), will start from the Borissova Gradina Park. IMRO will organize celebrations in Bosilegrad, Serbia, too. Students from Sofia schools will be present at the ceremony at the monument of the Apostle of Freedom.

Before the celebration Bulgarian Patriarch Maxim will hold a memorial service in “Saint Sophia” church, followed by a Procession of the Cross. Tsetska Tsacheva, president of Bulgarian parliament will take part in the commemorative ceremony in the town of Karlovo – hometown of Vassil Levski. Tsacheva will visit the house-museum “Vassil Levski” and will lay flowers before the monument of Gina Kuncheva, mother of the beloved Bulgarian hero.
