The second day of the visit began with the memorial service at the Serbian military cemetery, Zeitinlik.
On this occasion, father Sava, who has taken care about the graves and the cemetery as a whole for decades, was honoured. Serbian Patriarch solemnly decorated him with the order of the Serbian Orthodox Church, for the unselfish love towards neighbours, towards the Orthodox Church.
Also, the memorial service was served in the village of Chortiyatis, above Thessaloniki, where the German occupiers in 1944 burned alive hundred locals along with the priest, among which there were women and children. Besides the host and guests from Serbian, the memorial service was attended also by Minister of Faith and Education in the Government of Greece Mr. Loverdos, Minister of Macedonia and Thrace Mr. Orphanos and many representatives of local authorities, and lots of people.
On Saturday night, on 18 October, at the theatre Lazaristes the solemn academy was held in honour of the Serbian victims and heroes of the Great War. The choir of the Cathedral church from Nis “Branko” and the choir of the Metropolitanate of Neapolis Saint Cassiana performed a rich cultural program.
