Mar Thimothios Metropolitan Continues With His Visit to Ethiopia

Ethiopia: H.G. Dr. Mathews Mar Thimothios Metropolitan visited Enthotho St.Mary and St Raguel Churches on 20th January. Those are the oldest Churches in Addis Ababa constructed by the late Emperor Minelik – II of Ethiopia. His grace had a very fruitful discussion with H.G. Abuna Thimotheos, the Dean of the Holy Trinity Theological College, Addis Ababa.
Metropolitan Mathews Mar Themotios extended gratitude to H.G. Abuna Thimotheos for providing necessary facilities at the Holy Trinity Theological College for functioning of the Indian Orthodox Congregation.
On 21st Thursday Metropolitan visited different ecclesiastical and cultural museums (including the Patriarchal museum), historical monuments and the Holy Trinity Cathedral. The Cathedral was constructed by the late Emperor Haile Selassie-I and at present having the status of Patriarchal Cathedral. The late Emperor HaileSllassie – I and the members of Imperial family and the second and third Patriarchs of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church are buried in this Holy Trinity Cathedral.
H.G. Mar Thimothios’ personal audience with H.H. Abuna Paulos – I the Patriarch of Ethiopian Orthodox Church and with H.G. Abuna Gerima, the Head of the Department of Ecumenical and Inter Church Relations of the Patriarchate of Ethiopia also was held on the same day.
His Holiness Patriarch appreciated the Metropolitan for his vigorous attempts to organise congregations of the Indian Orthodox Church all through the continent of Africa. The Patriarch has wholeheartedly promised all necessary support from the Ethiopian Orthodox Church for the organizing and sustaining of the Indian Orthodox Congregations in different cities in Africa and entrusted the Metropolitan to convey fraternal
greetings to H.H. Baselios Didimos – I, the Supreme Catholicos of the Apostolic Throne of St Thomas and Malankara Metropolitan.St. Thomas Indian Orthodox Congregation in Addis Ababa gave a warm reception to H.G. Mar Thimothios.
Metropolitan has elevated two of the members of the congregation to the post of alter assistant at the Chapel of Holy Trinity Theological College, where the congregation functions took place under the guidance of Fr. Dr. Jossi Jacob.
H.G. Thimothios will leave Ethiopia for Kenya to visit the Indian Orthodox Congregation in Nairobi. His Grace will be there up to 26th January.
