Chair of Synodal Military Department of UOC Blessed Graduates of Ukrainian Military Medical Academy

On June 14, commemoration of the Venerable Agapit of the Kyiv Caves, the Unmercenary Doctor, by the tradition which has existed already for 7 years the graduates and students of the Ukrainian Military Medical Academy heard the words of instruction for the further military medical activities.

“It has become good tradition of our educational establishment”, said the chair of the department of family medicine colonel Serhiy Skliar, “our military commandment initiated this festivity not only as a tribute to memory of the famous holy doctor, the patron of the medical engagement, but also as a component of education process bringing up Christian attitude to the patient who comes to a military doctor. The doctor has to see man needing help in front of him.”

Chair of the Synodal Department of the UOC for Relations with Armed Forces and other Military Agencies of Ukraine, Archbishop Augustine of Lviv and Halych performed thanksgiving prayer service in the presence of all teachers and graduate students.
After the worship service Vladyka addressed the military doctors with a word of instruction to for military medical activity. Every graduate student received a farewell letter, and all the others – a booklet with prayers of general use. First of all the teachers and students made a veneration kiss of the icon of the Mother of God of the Kyiv Caves, and then – of the incorrupt relics of the Venerable Agapit of the Kyiv Caves.
