Metropolitan Mathews Mar Thimothios of Indian Orthodox Church Visits Ethiopian Orthodox Church

H.G. Dr. Mathews Mar Thimothios Metropolitan landed in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia on 18th January. His Grace met His Holiness Dr. Abuna Paulos – I, the Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and participated in the celebration of Timkat (Epiphany) which is the national festival of Ethiopia. Fr.Dr. Jossiu Jacob (Prof. Holy Trinity Theological College and Cordinating Vicar of the East African Congregations).

H.H. Abune Paolose received H.G. Dr. Mathews Mar Thimothios Metropolitan with high official honour. Mertropolitan accompanied His Holiness Abuna Paulose from the Patriarchal Palace to the venue of celebration of Epiphany and back in the official vehicle of the Patriarch.

The liturgical celebration of Epiphany was held at Jan Meda (the largest public square in Ethiopia which is about 3 sq.km wide) was led by H.H. Dr. Abuna Paulose together with H.G. Dr. Mathews Mar Thimothios Metropolitan and the Holy Episcopal Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church on 19th January. Political Dignitaries, Ambassadors, Religious Dignitaries and a large number of tourists participated in that glorious event. More than 3 lakhs people attended this function.

H.G. Dr. Mathews Mar Thimothios Metropolitan has delivered a message and conveyed the greetings of H.H. Baselios Marthoma Didimos – I, Catholicose of the East and Malankara Metropolitan, in the public function afterwards the liturgical celebration. H.G. Mar Thimothios will visit important Monasteries, Churches and Cultural Centers in and around Addis Ababa on 20th January.
