Orthodox Ordination in Bujumbura

With the blessings of His Beatitude Theodore II, the Patriarch of Alexandria, a new deacon, Fr. Maximos, was ordained on Sunday, July 20th, at the Dormition of the Theotokos church in Bujumbura.

Fr. Maximos comes from Kaziba region, Rwanda; he was baptized into Orthodoxy a long time ago and he expressed his will to dedicate himself to the Church as a priest. HB bishop Innocentios recognized his sincere intentions and ordained him a deacon in the capital of Burundi.

A lot of faithful observed his ordination, coming both from Burundi and Rwanda, whence they traveled to express their wishes to the new deacon. Soon, Fr. Maximos will be ordained a priest and will be sent to Rwanda to serve the religious needs of the Orthodox there, who tend to increase significantly lately.
