The Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem visits Moscow

June- July 2014

On Wednesday June 25, His Beatitude Archbishop Nourhan Manougian, the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem, visited the Armenian Diocese of Russia in Moscow.

His Grace, Bishop Yezras Nersessyan, the Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Russia and New Nakhijevan and the Pontifical Legate of the Armenian Church to the Russian Orthodox Patriarchate of Moscow and All Russia, had invited His Beatitude to Moscow.

The Primate His Grace Bishop Yezras Nersesyan and clergymen cordially welcomed the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem and the accompanying clergy from Jerusalem.

Last year in September the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral of Moscow was officially consecrated. The Cathedral is the largest Armenian Church outside of Armenia: an enormous complex that also houses a memorial to the Armenian genocide, a cultural centre, a museum as well as the Bishop’s residence- in order to serve the large Armenian community in Moscow and Russia.

The Primate His Grace Bishop Yezras Nersesyan guided His Beatitude Archbishop Nourhan through the Diocesan complex and showed him the museum, , and the present exhibition about “Armenians in Moscow”.

In a private meeting, His Beatitude and His Grace, as well as other clergy members discussed matters of the Church and the congregations.

His Beatitude thanked His Grace Bishop Yezras Nersesyan cordially for the pleasant and amicable reception in Moscow, and blessed the congregation.
