Delegation of the Lutheran Evangelical Church at the Patriarchate of Romania
On 1 July 2014, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church received at the Patriarchal Residence the visit of Michael Martin, church superior counsellor of the Lutheran Evangelical Church of Bayern. He was accompanied by a delegation which also included His Grace Sofian Brasoveanul, Assistant Bishop to the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Germany, Austria and Luxemburg.
The discussions focused on the pastoral problems of the two Churches as well as on the present ways of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
To end with, the church superior counsellor Michael Martin declared: “We, the Lutheran Evangelical Church of Bavaria do work with the Romanian Orthodox Metropolitanate of Germany, Central and Northern Europe, and it was our desire to know at home, in Romania, the Church Bishop Sofian belongs to. In Romania we learn a lot about the Orthodox spirituality, about how it is lived in monasteries and parishes, and today I had the great pleasure to speak with His Beatitude, Patriarch Daniel. We discussed about the pastoral problems of our Churches, about how the Gospel can be communicated directly to our faithful, about how we can act in our pastoral work”.
His Grace Sofian Brasoveanul explained that the Lutheran Evangelical Church of Bavaria helped and continues to help the Romanian Orthodox Metropolitanate of Germany, Central and Northern Europe and, in this context, the members of the delegation wanted to know the realities of our country, because a large part of them have never been in Romania so far.
