Domnita Balasa Church in Bucharest Celebrated Its Protector, St. Gregory of Nyssa

St. Gregory of Nyssa was celebrated Saturday, January 9, and Sunday, January 10, at the Domnita Balasa Church in Bucharest. This holy place contains a fragment of the holy relics of St. Gregory, which were carried in procession around the church on Saturday night, after the service of the Vespers. Sunday, before the celebration of the Holy Liturgy, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel consecrated the painting of the church, recently restored.

The procession of Saturday night was led by Right Rev. Ciprian Campineanul, Patriarchal Vicar Bishop, together with 20 priests and deacons. The procession with the holy relics circled the 120-year-old church. The holy relics of St. Gregory of Nyssa were brought to the Domnita Balasa Church in Bucharest 40 years ago, and the reliquary holding them dates back to 1792.

On Sunday, on the feast of St. Gregory of Nyssa, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church consecrated the painting of the church, recently restored, and celebrated the Holy Liturgy with Right Rev. Ciprian Campineanul, Patriarchal Vicar Bishop, and many priests and deacons. During the holy service, Sorin-Eusebiu Argintariu was ordained deacon. In his sermon, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel explained the spiritual meanings of the Gospel which presents the beginning of the public activity of our Savior Jesus Christ.
