The Holy Assembly of Serbian Orthodox Bishops has begun with sessions

Hierarchs gathered at the Studenica monaster. The rite of Invocation of the Holy Spirit was performed in the church of Sts. Apostles Peter and Paul in Ras near Novi Pazar

This annual gathering of the Holy Assembly of Bishops began with the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy at the Cathedral church of the Most Holy Mother of God in the monastery of Studenica on Wednesday, 14 May 2014. His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, officiated the Divine Liturgy with the concelebration of a number of bishops.

Following the Holy Liturgy His Holiness went to Raska, accompanied by hierarchs, members of the Holy Assembly of Bishops. There, they entered  the church of Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, the endowment of Saint Symeon the Myrhh-Gusher, where the Invocation of the Holy Spirit was performed. With this rite regular session of this annual convocation of the Holy Assembly of Bishops began.

His Holiness and bishops visited another endowment of the Myrrh-Gusher, founder of the Serbian dynasty, the monastery of Djurdjevi Stupovi, after which they came back to the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade.

The first session of this highest hierarchal body of the Serbian Orthodox Church has begun today, on 15 May 2014, at the solemn Assembly’s hall at the Patriarchate in Belgrade.

Otherwise, His Holiness Irinej arrived in the monastery of Studenica with other hierarchs on Tuesday, 13 May 2014. After arrival, the solemn doxology was served, and His Grace Bishop Jovan of Shumadia, as a host, welcomed His Holiness and bishops. Thereafter, His Holiness delivered an address.
