The Patriarch of Romania at the Chapel of the Cathedral for the Nation’s Salvation

23/4/14

On 21 April 2014, the second Easter day, the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox church was present in the middle of the faithful at the Chapel of the Cathedral for the Nation’s Salvation, where he delivered a sermon.

On this occasion, His Beatitude announced in the end of the Divine Liturgy that next year the dedication day of the chapel of the Cathedral for the Nation’s Salvation, the Resurrection of the Lord, will be celebrated on the second Easter day.

“This change is designed to give more importance to the church and to have a hierarchical liturgy every year if possible because this chapel of the Cathedral for the Nation’s Salvation has special significance. This dedication day was given on purpose, just to be related to the dedication day of the new Cathedral, which is the Ascension of the Lord. This chapel of the future Cathedral for the Nation’s Salvation was dedicated to the Resurrection of the Lord just to show that the One who ascends to Heaven is the crucified and risen Christ”, His Beatitude explained.

The building of the chapel of the future Patriarchal Cathedral represents a first stage of a historical rehabilitation. Five places of worship used to be on the Arsenal Hill, the place where the Cathedral for the Nation’s Salvation is being built, the Patriarch of Romania also said.

“In a first stage, the churches crucified through demolition and movement were resurrected through this church built close to the place where the five churches used to be before being demolished or moved”.

To end with, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel offered several books to the place of worship published at the within the Romanian Patriarchate.

The chapel of the Cathedral for the Nation’s Salvation is dedicated to the Resurrection of the Lord, to the Icon of the Mother of God – Prodromita, and to Saint John Chrysostom.
