Catholicos of All Armenians Receives President of Kuwait University

On March 28, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, welcomed Prof. Abdul-Latif Ahmad Al-Bader, President of Kuwait University, and his delegation. Accompanying them was Prof. Aram Simonyan, Rector of the Yerevan State University. Present at the meeting were also His Grace Bishop Anushavan Jamkochyan, Dean of the Theological Faculty of Yerevan State University and Dean of the St. Gregory the Illuminator Mother Cathedral in Yerevan; and His Grace Bishop Gevorg Saroyan, Rector of the Religious- Educational Institutions of the Mother See and Dean of the Gevorkian Theological Seminary.

Prof. Simonyan introduced the members of the delegation to the Catholicos of All Armenians, reflecting on the accomplishments of Kuwait University, as well as the visitations made with various Armenian educational institutions during their visit.

Welcoming the delegation to the Mother See, His Holiness Karekin II expressed his happiness for the collaboration formed between YSU and Kuwait University. The Catholicos of All Armenians gladly noted that following the Armenian declaration of independence, a strong partnership was formed between the two countries within the spheres of science and education. His Holiness also highlighted the important role of the Armenian community in strengthening those ties. During the discussion the Catholicos of All Armenians reflected on the historic friendly relations between the two nations, expressing his appreciation to the authorities of Kuwait for the support that the Arab people showed to the Armenians during the Armenian Genocide.

His Holiness Karekin II also discussed the Religious- Educational Institutions of the Armenian Church, noting that the Gevorkian Theological Seminary has established close ties with various universities abroad. His Holiness added that currently they were working in establishing ties with the Islamic Educational institutions, which would promote the progress of religious dialogues.

At the conclusion of the meeting the Catholicos of All Armenians expressed his wish that Kuwait continue to prosper in peace, and with God’s blessings, that goodness be abundant in humanity.
