Dignitaries pay final respect to Patriarch Ignatius Zakka Iwas: Synod to Elect Locum Tenens

Beirut: Several high level dignitaries today visited the mortal remains of the late Patriarch at the St. Aphrem Cathedral to pay their final respect. Pope Tawadros II of the Alexandria and All Africa and a very high delegation from the Coptic Church, Michel Suleiman the Honorable President of Lebanon, nuns from various monasteries, high level governmental dignitaries paid their final respect to the late Patriarch of Antioch and All East.

Synod Meeting

The Holy Synod of the Church is being held the St Aprem Cathedral presided by Catholicos Abune Basalios Thomas I of India. The Synod session will elect the locum tenens to the Patriarchal Throne as well as decide the date for the major synod to hold Patriarchal elections.
