Catholicos of All Armenians Received President of Georgia

On February 28, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; welcomed Mr. Grigori Margvelashvili, President of Georgia; in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Accompanying him was Mr. Edward Nalbandian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, with the attendance of His Eminence Archbishop Arshak Kachatryan, Chancellor of the Mother See; His Grace Bishop Vazken Mirzakhanyan, Primate of the Diocese of Georgia; and His Grace Bishop Mushegh Babayan, Operation Director of the Mother See.
Welcoming the visit of the president of Georgia and his delegation to Armenia and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the Catholicos of All Armenians expressed his joy over the cooperation between the two countries, and noted that such reciprocal visits contribute in further reinforcing the relations between the nations.
His Holiness Karekin II emphasized the importance of strengthening the mutual cooperation and friendship between the two neighboring nations of the same faith, noting that the Armenian Church always supported those efforts.
During the meeting they reflected on the Armenian community in Georgia and its historic and present day contributions and role in the life of the country, in the economic, cultural, educational and other spheres. In his remarks the Catholicos of All Armenians expressed his appreciation for the benevolent efforts being made in resolving recent issues of the Armenian Diocese in Georgia and the Armenian community, expressing his confidence that those efforts would bring swift solutions to the problems arising in the spiritual life of the Armenian people.
At the conclusion of the meeting the Catholicos of All Armenians wished President Margvelashvili a productive term in office, for the welfare of Georgia and its faithful people. The President of Georgia also visited the Mother Cathedral and the Museum.
