St. Joseph Orthodox Church to hold icon open house May 11

Iconographer, Dmitry Shkolnik, is intalling the first icons in Houston depicting the saints of North America with an open house from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at St. Joseph Orthodox Church in West Houston.
“The art of iconography is alive and well, and iconographer, Dmitry Shkolnik, is installing the first icons in Houston that depict the Saints of North America at St. Joseph Orthodox Church in West Houston,” according to a church press release. “The narthex of St. Joseph Orthodox Church, located at 10644 Hammerly Blvd. in Houston, will be transformed with the images of nine saints of North America, as well as the baptism of Christ by John in the Jordan. The installation of the icons begins on April 17 and will be completed by April 26.”
The church is at 10644 Hammerly Blvd., Houston.
