The New Shrine For The Relics Of The Saint Patrons Of Iancu Vechi Parish – Matasari Consecrated By The Patriarch Of Romania
On 30 March 2013, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania consecrated, in the chapel of the Patriarchal Residence with Saint Martyr George as saint patron, the new shrine of the relics of Saint Martyrs Eustatie, Teopista, Agapie and Teopist from Iancu Vechi – Matasari parish of Bucharest.
After the consecration service His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel showed that the initiative to value the relics of Iancu Vechi – Matasari parish represents a nice pastoral care for the faithful, as well as veneration of the saints who protect the parish church: “The present church is quite a new one, because the old one fell down – due to some technical disorder or major neglect – just when it was about to be consolidated. Once the church rebuilt the veneration of the holy relics had to be revived making a new beautifully adorned shrine for them. This fact shows that the church emphasises the new shrine and the new shrine emphasises the new church. So, in this renewal of the church and of the shrine of the saint martyrs Eustatie and of his family shows that here is a holy endeavour designed to strengthen the communion with the saint patrons and to intensify the dignity of the parish too”.
Tomorrow, 31 March 2013, His Grace Varsanufie Prahoveanul, Assistant Bishop to the Archdiocese of Bucharest will take the shine to the church Iancu-Vechi – Matasari. Then, His Grace will celebrate the Divine Liturgy assisted by a group of priests and deacons.
“Tomorrow morning His Grace Bishop Varsanufie Prahoveanul will take from the chapel of the Patriarchal Residence the new silver shrine of the relics of the four saints. It will be laid under the canopy of our church. After the Divine Liturgy the leaflet of Iancu Vechi – Matasari church drafted at the Romanian Patriarchate and printed at the printing press of the Romanian Patriarchate will be presented and launched” Rev. Constantin Stoica, parish priest of Iancu-Vechi – Matasari church said.
