The Third scientific and practical conference “The Church Heritage – History and Modernity” was held at the Metropolitan Residence

The Conference Hall of the Metropolis of Chisinau and All Moldova welcomed today the participants of the Third scientific and practical conference “The Church Heritage – History and Modernity”. An impressing number of priests, theologians, academics, and central and local public authorities participated.
Inaugurating the event, His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir blessed and greeted the audience, underlining in their discourse the importance of the conference for the country’s spiritual, cultural and historical heritage. His Eminence also mentioned the need to join efforts in order to implement the plan of salvation and preservation of old church buildings that are true pearls of Christian architectural art and education centers of major spiritual importance.
The Hierarch expressed hope that this edition will be as successful as the previous ones, ensuring the sustainability of collaboration between all institutions and persons willing to contribute to this goal.
The officials and academics participating at the conference included Mr. Mihai Moldovanu, Depute Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Nistor Grozavu, Depute Mayor of Chisinau, Mr. Ion Stefăniţă, Director of the National Monuments Protection Agency, Mr. Eugen Bâzgu, coordinator of the VillageMuseum, Mrs. Mariana Şlapac, correspondent member of the Academy of Science of Moldova, Dr. Liliana Condraticova, coordinator of the Cultural Heritage Institute of the Academy of Science of Moldova, and others.
The Orthodox Church of Moldova was represented by His Eminence Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and All Moldova, Archpr. Vadim Cheibaş, Metropolitan Secretary, Archrp. Manole Brihuneţ, Chairman of the Metropolitan Department of Architecture, Restoration, and Church Painting, Archpr. Octavian Mosin, Archpr. Maxim Melinte, Archpr. Sergiu Curnic, and others.
The discussions focused on the analysis of the situation of historical worship sites in the Republic of Moldova, and the development of the actions plan meeting the most rigorous restoration conditions.
The Church Heritage journal of the Metropolitan Department of Architecture, Restoration, and Church Painting was launched at the Conference, presenting the materials of previous two conferences held in 2011 and 2013.
