Consecration of St. Karapet Church in Gavar
Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin
On November 17, the Saint Karapet Church in the town of Gavar was consecrated. The church was fully renovated during the course of 2012.
The church was originally built in 1848 by compatriots who had immigrated to Armenia from Bayazet, Turkey led by brothers Barsegh and Mkrtich Artsruni Aghaner; the founders of New Bayazet.
Not only residents of the city of Gavar, Armenia participated in the renovation of the Church, but also many other Armenians, originally from Gavar, took part in turning it back into a house of worship.
Mrs. Hranoush Hakobian; Minister of the Diaspora Ministry, state officials and thousands of residents of Gavar took part in the consecration ceremony.
