Patriarch Kirill visits tsunami affected Japanese areas

Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill hopes that the relations between Russians and Japanese will grow stronger.
He addressed the clergy and parishioners at the Nikolai-do Cathedral in Tokyo after a 3-hour liturgy.
Patriarch Kirill is on his first visit to Japan, which is timed to the centennial of Saint Archbishop Nikolai, the founder of the Japanese Orthodox church.
The Patriarch also visited territories affected by last year`s deadly quake and tsunami, and donated some money to the Japanese Orthodox Church which is to be spent on reconstruction of damaged churches.
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill led a liturgy in the Nikolai-do Cathedral in Tokyo on Sunday.
The cathedral was named after St. Archbishop Nikolai, the founder of the Japanese Orthodox Church.
Dozens of clerics and about 1,000 worshipers attended the liturgy, which was conducted in Old Church Slavonic and in Japanese. Patriarch Kirill’s visit to Japan had been timed to coincide with the centennial of the archbishop’s death.
