Governor hails marriage assistance Programme

On the Occasion of the 89th birthday celebrations of Catholicos Baselios Marthoma Didymos-I at Parumala Seminary.
India-Keralal State-PATHANAMTHITTA: Governor R.S.Gavai has said that the Malankara Orthodox Church’s marriage assistance programme is a model for those who take up humanitarian projects.
Delivering the inaugural address at the function for the distribution of marriage assistance fund for 35 girls in connection with the 89th birthday celebrations of Catholicos Baselios Marthoma Didymos-I at Parumala Seminary on Thursday, the Governor said that marriage assistance for girls belonging to poor families would give a new lease of life to them.
The Governor called upon the social organisations and well-placed individuals to take the humanitarian project as a model. He complimented the Church and Catholicos for undertaking schemes for the poor.
Geevarghese Mar Osthathios presided over the function. Baselios Marthoma Didymos-I delivered the benedictory address.
Yuhanon Mar Chrysostimos, Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy, Parumala Seminary manager Rev Yuhanon Ramban, Orthodox Sabha secretary George Joseph, Alexander Karakal and Sobhana George offered felicitations. MPs Anto Antony and Kodikunnil Suresh, MLAs K M Mani, Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan, P C Vishnunath, M Murali, Mons Joseph, Joseph M Puthussery and K K Shaju were present.
